Christine Fortenberry Professional and Civic Biography

 

Christine Fortenberry has more than 42 years of experience building custom homes, remodeling and light commercial. She is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Management.

 

     As founder and CEO of Fortenberry Construction Inc, Christine has been a unique player in a male-dominated industry.  Her skills, experience, and reputation for quality, integrity, and professionalism have earned her local, regional, and national recognition.  In 2007, Christine established Fortenberry Construction Services LLC, a full service residential and light commercial design, renovation and construction company.  This company also provides evaluation, design and construction services for special needs and aging-in-place projects including ADA evaluations and reports for Light Commercial projects. 

 

In 2012, Christine created FCSatlanta LLC, a full service Real Estate Consulting firm specializing in horizontal infrastructure for developers and specializing in Reserve Study and Analyses Services for Single Family Communities, Condominiums, Townhome Communities and Office Parks.

 

     She has earned

 

  • designations as a Certified Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS), a designation indicating specialized training in designing and building living spaces for persons to Age-In-Place or persons with special needs;
  • has earned the NAHB Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) designation;
  • has earned the NAHB Certified Green Professional designation;
  • is certified as an instructor for NAHB;
  • is a guest lecturer for various organizations in matters of Residential and Light Commercial construction.

 

Christine

  • is a career member of the National Home Builders Association, for which she serves as a National Director and  serves on various national committees;
  • is a member and services in leadership roles of the Professional Women in Building Council of NAHB and the NAHB Remodeler’s Council;
  • serves as a State Director with the Home Builders Association of Georgia and serves on the state Governmental Regulatory Committee;
  • serves as director for the Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Associations and chairs the GAHBA Education Committee;
  • is a guest lecturer for the Georgia Tech School of Architecture and other local organizations in Atlanta on the subject of Universal Design.
  • Is a governor serving on the National CAPS Board of Governors.

 

Her company was recognized in 2005 as one of Cobb County’s “Top 25 Small Businesses.” She is one of only six Georgians appointed chairperson to the National Republican Business Advisory Council, which named her Businesswoman of the Year in 2006. In 2005, she was named “Woman of Achievement” honoree by the YWCA of Northeast Georgia and in 2005 was named a “Partner of the Year” by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.

 

     A strong advocate of giving back to the community, Christine has been actively involved as a “Partner in Education” with Kemp Elementary in Cobb County; has donated time, services, and materials to projects for South Cherokee Recreation facilities, the Eagle Scouts, the YWCA of Northwest Georgia; built and donated an outdoor classroom for Kemp Elementary School, Cobb County, Georgia; and participates in various HomeAide community projects.  Additionally she served as President of the Echo Mill Homeowners Association for three two year terms, a development in West Cobb in which she lives and built 22% of the homes in this Cousins Development Community.
